...Confines Of Shape

...Maypoles they twirl and children take off
...circulating in a world way above this hallowed ground
...clenched eyes of disbelief and taught limbs of fear
...all are joined in naivety up there, but right here

...I am a bird they chirp and disappear away on a curve
...to be replaced by another right where they juste were
...sideshows in garish stripes and milling multitudes traverse
...the atmosphere is unique in this temporary colourful theatre

...fire to breathe and wishes are sold
...not for the hand of tightly held golde
...nor for the dream of acreage so grande
...nor for the touch of pure maidens hand

...where there was nakedness there is now so muche
...nothing has really changed that will revert to its duste
...a smile it muste end and a sigh will fade to none
...the skye is so blue it is hiding my sun

...magickians and jester weave their harlequin tapestry's
...sleight of hand is a rule to understand
...the key is the timing, the delivery, the sting
...preying on the unknowledgeable is a wicked, wicked thing

..."See the Knave?" watch it then turn away like daye to knight
...when the wrist doth twyste the gasps fore they do take flighte
...to know is all and to wish is to want
...reading scrolls of bygone tymes in a modern type font

...one soul with two containers, one circular, one square
...ponders a moment for us to guess whats in and dare
..."something to eat" one shouts "jewellery so fayre" comes a voice
...not one of you are close, even though you have choice

..."inside?" and "inside?" what is it you mean?
..."shapes that contain the power to dream"
..."in the circle they are of white, and pure and goode"
..."in the black box, not so, young children not so by a mile"

...they look down at their shoes which in turne look down themselves at our fayre world
...then a brave soul requestes to know, what they see not they all want to know
..."but which to choose, as it is you who now have a choice?"
..."the white, may it be the white" speaks the self-same lone voice

..."goode" saide the travelling soul - and so it may be
..."but to know what it is that is insyde is all but to see"
...unfurled and released for all time and to be held so verrye close
...guided by voices that speak for only lighte and form
...tredding a psychedelic thought pattern so bleak and so worn

..."keep them precious childe, share them naughte with a nother"
..."open them only when dreams they are be soon discovered"
...snaking and jubillant away goes the childe
...others they are mesmerised and await his coming and knowing wry smile

..."tonight my friends what that childe may see and become"
..."is all that he wanted from his days that are one"
..."led by desires so vivid, so pure and clear"
..."taken to a place by his eyes not his fear"

..."and what did he leave?"
..."fore this is your answer"
..."coulde it be that they are onlye bad dreams in darque boxes?"

...the soul turned away despite calls to let eager eyes pry insyde
...half-turning back to the crowde with a glint across a knowing eye
..."you already knowe if you've seen me here before"
..."I knew the choice that woulde come from your gathering once more"

..."the box?...the box?" - "why it is empty of course"
..."the childe has gone from here with his dreams in his hands"
..."who will be the man to take this from such a juvenile yearning"
...the crowde they are bemused by the offer of naughte

..."You see my friends, what you want is not what you need"
..."the young childe has his dreams on whiche the nighte shalle feed"
..."asking him to choose between nothing and nothing because"
..."his box, yes it shalle be empty and my box shalle too"
